Who Uses Voice Tech?

February 8, 2022 Posted by Sai Siddhaye Blog Posts

Within the past decade, voice tech has become a staple in almost everyone’s life. According to VixenLabs’  2021 Voice Consumer Index, around 60% of all people use voice technology in some way. Even if you don’t own a smart speaker, you have probably used voice technology in some way.

Age is Just a Number

It is a common misconception that only younger generations are using voice-controlled technology. The Voice Consumer Index suggests that is not the case at all. Alexa devices in particular are being used most by people from ages 35 to over 65. This data shows that over 40% of Alexa users in the U.S. are over the age of 65. Alexa usage is even higher in other countries. In the UK, 70% of regular Alexa users are between the ages of 55 and 65.

This data can clear up some anxiety about using voice-activated technology. It also provides us with important insight on your needs and concerns about using Alexa. Almost every user has used voice to ask questions via a search engine. Many also use voice technology to check the weather or find product and service information. VixenLabs’ data also shows people’s overall attitudes towards Voice technology. For example, it shows that most users find Alexa user-friendly and very convenient. However, over 50% of Alexa users in the U.S. have concerns about their privacy.

You Ask, We Deliver

As voice experts, we at VoiceTechLabs can use this data to make our products more comfortable to use. By making our privacy policies more transparent, we can assure you that your data is safe while using our apps. For example, you can use our PodSmart app without making an account or revealing any personal information. Voluntarily making an account does not compromise any of your data.

This information about voice tech can also help us understand what types of apps would be most useful to you. Demographics data guides our product development, and we can use VixenLabs’ report to cater to specific demographics. If your most important needs have to do with accessibility and technology that can make your life easier, we can cater to those needs in our future products. If you are most interested in informative or educational apps, we can do that too. Your feedback is what helps us develop new products and bring them right to your Alexa device.
